Naked Faced, Down with Makeup!

Since I first got pregnant with Sophie, putting on make-up has been a pain in my rear.
For the past 5 years I have had a love-hate relationship with cosmetics.
Being as I am now a mega hippie, it makes sense that I wouldn’t bother with make-up right?
That crap is expensive anways.
This past spring, I decided that I would no longer bother with foundation, powder, consealer, etc.
Screw society and their definition of beauty.
The only makeup I would bother with is earthy eyeshadow and liner.
Occasionally I’ll throw in some red lipstick on the days that I feel saucy.
The end result:
I feel so much prettier than I ever did with a bunch of crap caked on my face.
Also so that you get the full effect, that picture is with my hair air dried and fluffy.
Even better?
I am teaching by example.
I want my girls to know that they don’t need to buy products to feel beautiful.
Natural beauty is far better.
I want them to see just how beautiful they were made.
Before I end the post, I do not in any way look down on ladies who choose to wear makeup.
To each their own. 🙂

  1. Here here! It's funny how I used to be afraid to leave the house without a full face of makeup and now I'm totally comfortable going without it. I like getting pretty sometimes, but mostly I'm learning to appreciate my freckles and light features.

  2. When we were first dating, Curtis told me he liked it when I wore less makeup. I don't know why, but it really stuck with me. He loves me and he actually prefers I cover my face with less junk. After Dea was born, I went to another extreme and stopped wearing it all together. Now I think I've found my happy medium. Some days are still no makeup, but most have some mascara, maybe eyeshadow or lipstick, and a little bit of concealer on any current breakouts if I feel like it.
